This is a list of what you might want to bring for your Casas de Luz home building event. We suggest your packing be limited to one small bag and your sleeping bag. There is limited space in the cars for luggage.
General Packing list:
- PASSPORTS are required for reentry into the US (children under 18 can use a original birth certificate)
- Water bottle(we will provide purified water)
- Personal toiletries (Shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)
- Camera
- Moist towelettes
- Sunblock or hat
- Towel and wash cloth
- Sleeping bag, pillow and pillow case, twin bed sheet, yoga mat for sleeping on floor
- Ear plugs if you have trouble sleeping in a group situation with snoring
Suggested Clothing:
Please note that these are only suggestions for your group. Be prepared to get your clothes VERY dirty at the work site!
- Work gloves
- Work pants
- Work shirts
- Work shoes (closed-toe)
- Casual/comfortable shoes for evening
- Casual clothing for dinners or other non-building times
- Light jacket or sweater
Tools:
All the necessary tools will be provided on site but if you prefer using your own feel free to bring them along. We do use manual tools to have the experience building the old fashioned way. If you have some power tools you can bring them but remember, tools are valuable in Mexico and should not be left on site unattended. Some of the items that you might prefer to bring would be:
- Tool belt
- Hammer
- Cutting knife
- Carpenter’s pencil
- Square
- Tape measure
- Paint brush
